Carolyn Davis is a former employee of the Combs Agency and spent 13 years working alongside Rick and Chris. She never expected that she would become so involved with the agency when she first got started.
“When I initially interviewed with Combs insurance, it was just for a part-time position. I really knew nothing about auto or home insurance. They were all accepting of that, and took me under their wing to show me the ropes. Later on, they encouraged me to get my license, which I did. Shortly after getting that they promoted me to office manager. It was so easy to work with them, there was never anything too small or too little or a question or a problem to come to them and ask. That included anyone and everyone in the office, I always enjoyed looking forward to going to work every day.”
Davis enjoyed all the time she spent at the agency. Although she has been retired for 10 years, she still often thinks about what it would be like to go back to work.
“You know, there’s many times during the week that I say ‘Gee, I wish I wasn’t so old. I would love to go back.’ They’re very helpful, compassionate, and caring people that are willing to share their knowledge.”
Davis came to the agency off of a long break from employment, and initially was unsure of how her accepting new job would be of the learning curve she faced.
“I think that for me, having been out of the work force for 20 years without working with computers and things like that, I hadn’t been exposed to any of this before. But within that environment, there was never a time when I felt like I couldn’t do something or that I would be judged. I wasn’t just someone in a cubicle. A smile, and a ‘good morning, how was your day yesterday?’ mean an awful lot when someone takes the time to do that. That also gave me a lot of confidence in myself. It was a great experience for me, and it had to have been for everyone in that office.”
Coming into working with the agency, Davis was unsure of how her work environment would be. She learned that everyone there is treated like family, and was given experience that she will always appreciate.
“Rick was like a mentor to me, I admire and respect him so very much. If I had a chance to go back to work at Combs insurance and work with Rick and Chris, I would be on my way today. It was truly the best, that’s all I can say, it was just the best.”
